Pulling, terminating, splicing
Every intervention on fibre asks for the same precision, from the route through to the final connections: bend radius respected, ends protected, splices clean and measured.
It is a trade of hands more than of equipment, which is why it sits here rather than on the network page.
On an optical link it is the losses that decide the real throughput.
Every splice, every connector and every over-tight bend costs a few tenths of a decibel. Added up across a link between two buildings, they make the difference between a link that holds its speed and one that holds it every other day.
That is why we take care over the splices, and for no other reason.
Where fibre changes something
- Pulling and terminating optical fibre
- Precision splices, losses held down
- Links between buildings and network cores
- The sites where transmission speed is critical
