Off-peak 2026: 11:00 to 17:00 and 22:00 to 07:00
On 1 January 2026 Wallonia moved its off-peak hours and added six in the middle of the day. The weekend lost the ones it had.

The two-rate grid since 1 January 2026

| Peak | 07:00 to 11:00 | Every day |

Wallonia only. The network operator switched every meter over remotely, with no request and no visit. Flanders runs a capacity tariff and Brussels has its own rules, so this page does not apply there.
What the weekend lost
Before 2026 the whole weekend counted as off-peak. It no longer does. Saturday and Sunday now follow the same grid as a Tuesday: off-peak from 22:00 to 07:00, off-peak from 11:00 to 17:00, peak for the rest.
That is the unwelcome half of the reform, and it lands on households that ran the washing machine and the car charger on a Saturday evening. At 19:00 on a Saturday you now pay the peak rate.
In exchange, every day gains six off-peak hours that did not exist before, from 11:00 to 17:00. Across the week the count goes from 93 to 105 off-peak hours, but they no longer sit where they used to.
An off-peak window earns nothing unless something starts inside it
The 11:00 to 17:00 window falls squarely inside office hours. Nobody is going home at 14:00 to start the dishwasher, and that is exactly why the window is worth something: you take it with an appliance that starts on its own, not with discipline.
What decides is therefore not your contract but your consumer unit. A cylinder on a contactor, a charge point that schedules itself, a bus that arbitrates between the two: three jobs for an electrician, judged against the grid rather than against a promise.
Conversely, if nothing in your house stores energy or can wait, changing tariff changes nothing. We say so before quoting, not after.
The three options, and who each one is for
- Single rate
- One price, around the clock, unchanged. The right answer when consumption is flat and no appliance can be shifted.
- Two rates
- Two prices, the grid above. This is what applies if you ask for nothing.
- Impact tariff
- Five windows and three levels: ECO from 01:00 to 07:00 and 11:00 to 17:00, MEDIUM from 07:00 to 11:00 and 22:00 to 01:00, PEAK from 17:00 to 22:00. Optional, and limited to connections under 56 kVA with a smart meter.
Where to start in your own house
With the appliance that draws the most and stores what it makes: the hot water cylinder. One module shifts it, it holds its heat, and six hours from 11:00 to 17:00 are more than enough to fill it.
Then the car, if there is one, because a charge is the largest single block of energy in a house. Then heating, the hardest of the three, because it depends on what the building can hold.
Call us with your latest bill and a photograph of the board with its cover off. That is all it takes to say what can be shifted at your address and what cannot.
